Media is my LIFE!!!

Media... i feel like instead of having the break off this past week, i was all about the media. I watched movies, was on Facebook and instagram!!! my poor family. Im just really happy to be back in the swing of things so i don't waste hours on media.

YAY!!!! I've never been so excited to have a schedule!

Black Friday :)

BLACK Friday!!!

So i didn't realize his much the media is involved in Balck Friday!!!

but... duh!! there are ads, commercials, a new app that shows you the deals!!! its crazy how media is all over and in between and in every aspect of our lives!!!

Idk if any of you were able to black friday shop, but its always so funny to me. I love to see those ladies that run in the doors and just are so excited, until they don't get the thing they want ahaha so good. For me thaw what Black Friday is all about!!!

Although I am a STRONG believer that all things Christmas (with the exception of my wish list) shouldn't start until after Thanksgiving, I had to make an exception video!!!

Creeper Creepy

I myself have no room to talk. Just as much as the next person I enjoy the occasional Facebook stalking sess,

but, there is definitely a line that shouldn't be crossed...

Ahhahaha so funny!!! I feel bad for that teacher, but still gotta have stalking etiquette! But either way, shouts out to Facebook and twitter for making our lives so much better and helping us catch the creepy creepers!!

Wisdom teeth

Wisdom teeth always make the funniest videos... and this one is so cool because,

So yea... Its crazy to me how one little video on youtube went viral and a girl I know went on Ellen because of it. So cool how media can do that for average people. I love that part about media :)

Media Fast

So like I mentioned in mt last post my roommates and I did a voluntary media fast for 5 days. Let's just say... It was hard, but at the same time not as hard as I thought it would be.

What I learned...

I pay attention WAY more in class
I pay way more attention to my boyfriend
I just felt better about life
I felt a little disconnected from the world, but
Had better interactictions with my friends

Overall I think it was fun. I plan on being less dependent on social media in the future. But I do have one confession... I cheated once at the very end and posted this picture:

I'm CRAZY!!

Call me crazy... but remember when we did our 24 hour media fast at the beginning of the semester, well my roommates and I are doing a social media fast this week, just monday to friday. Call me crazy! I know its a bad idea, I'm already regretting it, like what am I supposed to do during class??

Don't be dumb!

First of all... i love the zoo, tigers are really cool, but don't try and play with them. You will loose in a fight against a tiger... ALWAYS!

So media is cool... like how far has technology come where we can have little cameras with us all the time. Also thanks YouTube for giving us the resources to view videos from across the world! 

But still... don't fight with tigers or play with them or whatever you call what this guy was doing... its not smart, be smart.

So... I thought since my last post was about T-Swift, I thought i would post about another one of the greats!!! MILEY CYRUS!

But in her case... I'm sad, because really look at that girl that cute little girl. She is nothing like that anymore. So my thought with this is as good as media is, it has a power to change... like in the bad way.

Idk what do you all think about this whole thing? How the media changes people... It makes me sad :/

Family... isn't it about time?

Im just really into kids right now... This is me, in the glory days... Enjoy :)

So in my last post I mentioned that I was grateful to those parents for videoing their child, and can I just say that I am SO grateful to my own parents for doing the same and getting ridiculous videos of me and my siblings. Family is so GREAT!!! 

I love my family so much and am so glad I get to be with them FOREVER!!! Best thing of my life.

Hmmm, well I guess what this makes me think about with regards to media is the lecture we had on infants and the media. This little baby is famous in my eyes now and well I think thats cool. kids are cool and the parents of this child are my heroes because they got this on video... way to use that media :)

Jimmy Fallon has done it again, he is probably the coolest man alive. Anyways this video he made with Will.i.am is hilarious, but not only that, Jimmy is such a saint that all of the proceeds that come from this video are being donated to charity! Woah what great guy. I love that about media and how it can be such a force for good.

I'm MORMON

Meet the MORMONS!



So excited to see this movie. Partially, because I want to see the type of mormons they decided to put in this movie and also just because I want to be prepared for all the potential questions I could get from my non-Mormon friends.

After serving a mission in Hungary, I feel the need to not only sure the gospel but also be aware of what people think of us and be prepared for potential questions they might have.

I'm a Mormon and I love it. I know so many people have skewed views of who we are and i just pray and hope that this movie will only help people to really know what we are all about :)

We're all BIG kids

I saw this really cool site on Facebook this week and really liked the idea of taking childhood photos and recreating them. It made me think a lot about my family, especially my siblings... man do i love and miss them. We had such a good life growing up together, but now we are all living our separate lives. Times have definitely changed, and we have all grown up, but we are pretty much just the same.

Change is weird. Family is constant though... thats what I learned.

Also i'm really grateful that media as well. This post got me reflecting on how easy it is for me to keep in contact with my family and friends via media.

Why we do the things we do?

It's a question my best friend and I have been discussing a lot lately... Why we, as people, do the things we do? What are our motives? (specifically in relation to social media)

So this is my question for the world or anyone who's anyone and uses Facebook, Twitter, Intsagram, has a blog, posts anything anywhere, or makes a comment... Why do we do/post/like/comment/use the social media that we do? What are our motives?

Do we think we need to put up a facade, that we have some perfect life when in reality its full of hard times, long hours at work, school, studying, disappointments. Or maybe life really is that easy; full of trips, good food, hors of free time to workout, happy people, perfect clothing, never ending money...is that life? If it is... tell me where I can find it.

What I think and maybe I'm wrong... actually I'm sure people will disagree with me, but social media is a place to escape. We often post the good just so we can escape the bad. When someone likes your picture or retweets something funny you say, how good do you feel? REAL GOOD.... right? and now I'm not saying that social media is bad... I'm right there with every mommy blogger and teenage tweeter that it's nice to feel important to your followers and it's fun to be funny and make others laugh. And let's be honest, don't we all take part in this social media, because we ourselves want to think about the good life, and escape our own less than Instagram worry moments. No one wants to read about failed tests and break ups anyways... so why is it that we do what we do?

To please our followers, to make ourselves feel good, to be something we aren't, or maybe to practice our photo editing skills... Honestly I can't say I know, but I think its just something to think about, the next time you post that sexy selfie on Instagram, ask yourself... 'What message am I sending to the world?' 'What are my motives?' and then with no shame, post it. What do you have to loose... maybe some followers or some dignity, but who needs those anyways :)

Apparently...

I recently saw this video, which is hilarious by the way, and it got me thinking about the concept we often discuss about nature verse nurture. Many people throughout the years have argued about whether we are the product of how we were raised, where we grew up, our social or financial status, or if we simply are who we are, because we were born that way.  As I watched this video I couldn't help but notice that Noah, a five year old, acted an awful lot like and old man. from the way he talked, to what he talked about all seemed to resemble that of an old man.

Knowing that Noah was raised by his grandparents causes me to wonder how much of that nurture played into who Noah is today? Has he always simply been an 'old soul' as many people call it,  or are his personality and mannerisms a product of how he was raised?

Just some food for thought... Who are we really? What makes us who we are, nature or nurture, both perhaps. Does one influence the other or have a stronger influence on who we ultimately become? I'm not sure we will ever know the answer to that, but it's interesting to step back and look at your own life. Think of all the things that influence you each day, do any of those seem to conflict with who you are on the inside?

Either way you see it, we are all people, with dreams and disappointments, we are who we are, we can do hard things, that is pretty amazing!
