Miley Cyrus

So... I thought since my last post was about T-Swift, I thought i would post about another one of the greats!!! MILEY CYRUS!

But in her case... I'm sad, because really look at that girl that cute little girl. She is nothing like that anymore. So my thought with this is as good as media is, it has a power to change... like in the bad way.

Idk what do you all think about this whole thing? How the media changes people... It makes me sad :/

Anyways, love you all.

  2. Media definitely has the power to change people. In her case, as well as several other poor people from Disney channel, it was her effort to stay in the media and known that did her in.

  3. It is super sketchy how much power the media has over the people directly involved and the consumers involved. I still don't fully understand how it has so much power over us. Why do we let comparisons and other people take so much charge over our lives??

    1. Such a good question! It is crazy and tragic how much people subject themselves to the judgments of others. Celebrities will never "make it" in the world of fame unless everyone else decides they like them enough. And although we are not celebrities, we still subject ourselves to how we think others think of in similar ways and act accordingly. Always trying to make other people happy or pleased.

  4. The media can be a strong influence for our generation and the ones coming after us. Lately, I've felt that the media has created a feeling of stardom for the younger generation. Everyone wants to be famous and that's the ideal life. Who decided that? Cultivation theory comes in handy with this question. There is no question in my mind that the media has shaped our beliefs about our bodies, expectations and has created an unrealistic and unattainable life style.
The thing that drives me nuts about the Miley Cyrus breakout is that many celebrities and young people support her actions--- claiming her "new identity" as a way for Miley to not only break out of her innocent image, but that she had to in order to become an independent woman. Who said that being a confident woman meant that they had to take their clothes off, get on drugs and engage in risky sex? Do those things actually make a woman?
What a false message and belief women and men and children around the world are taking in. A real woman knows how to bridle her passions and use her force to help others--- not to be unrestrained and have an uncontrollable thirst for sex, attention and fame. Another sad part of this whole thing is that she has opened the door for many other young actors/singers to follow her example...I don't even want to see what will happen next...
